Gianna Fratta, Orchestra Director explains in this video the role of emotions in the composition work. Gianna Fratta (born in Erba in 1973) is an Italian conductor and pianist. She studied piano, composition and conducting, perfecting herself with great masters and obtaining prestigious academic awards. She also has a degree in Law.
She began her career as a pianist, winning competitions and playing in international tours with the Ensemble Umberto Giordano. Since 2010, she has made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and has conducted major orchestras around the world, including the Berliner Symphoniker, the Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the Macao Symphony. She was the first woman to conduct some of these orchestras. She has conducted numerous operas, including Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly, Tosca and Carmen.
She teaches at the Umberto Giordano Conservatory in Foggia and at Sungshin University in Seoul and has been involved in various artistic and cultural projects. She has collaborated with famous artists and has recorded CDs and DVDs for various record companies.
She has received numerous awards, including the title of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana. She has been the protagonist of documentaries and initiatives against gender discrimination.
