Course Title: Applied Psychology for Music Therapy
Course Description: The course “Applied Psychology for Music Therapy” is part of the Erasmus+ Project “Music Therapy and Psychological Methods for the Recovery from Trauma, Anxiety and Negative Emotions of Ukrainian Refugees”. This course offers a unique perspective on the use of applied psychology in the context of music therapy, with a focus on the needs and challenges faced by Ukrainian refugees.
The course will be taught by renowned expert in psychology and music therapy, Igor Vitale, whose work has focused on integrating psychological practices into music therapy for recovery from trauma and emotional distress.
Through a combination of theory and practice, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the psychological principles underlying music therapy and learn how to effectively use music as a therapeutic tool to address trauma, anxiety and negative emotions.
The course will cover key topics such as the theory of psychology applied to music therapy, techniques of psychological assessment of patients, design and implementation of targeted musical interventions and ethics in music therapy practice.
Students will have the opportunity to actively participate in practical sessions, where they will be able to put into practice the skills acquired and receive direct feedback from the teacher. The course aims to provide students with the necessary tools to become competent and aware music therapists, able to work effectively with Ukrainian refugees and contribute to their recovery and healing process.
